GTP’s 9th year to Kick Off with annual Advanced STEM Summer Program

The Global Teaching Project, now in its ninth year, provides promising high school students in rural, high poverty communities access to advanced STEM courses they need to achieve their full potential, but which their schools otherwise could not offer.

GTP will kick off AP classes in Biology, Computer Science, Physics, and Statistics for the 2025-2026 school year with its ninth annual Advanced STEM Summer Preparatory Program June 9–13th at Mississippi State University.

The Summer Program provides valuable preparation for students who will be taking AP Science Courses through GTP in the upcoming academic year.

The Advanced STEM Summer Program provides, free of charge:

  • Immersive instruction from experienced, AP-certified instructors and other subject matter experts
  • Extensive tutoring and academic support from Teaching Assistants who are STEM majors at, or recent graduates of, prominent universities across the country—including Yale, Dartmouth, Columbia, Penn, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and elsewhere
  • Lodging in Mississippi State dormitories
  • Meals at Mississippi State dining halls
  • Recreational activities at Mississippi State facilities
  • Workshops on college admissions and financial aid in which each student will create a college application
  • Instructional materials (books, notebooks, etc.)
  • Other supplies (backpacks, t-shirts)

GTP students have praised the Summer Program, and the opportunities it provides to learn course content and meet other high-achieving students from throughout Mississippi and across the country:

“We do a lot more activities than we do at school” with “a lot more hands-on” learning.

“The best part of the program is socializing and meeting new people–different people.”
